Canada Breaches a US Lumber Deal

An interesting story in the National Post: U.S. claims victory in lumber case against Canada.

Peter Allgeirer - US Trade Representative, also states that Canada /Ottawa now has to collect 68.26-million from eastern canada. Mr. Allgeier says he is pleased. Canadian officials are disappointed and now have to figure out how to cure the 2006 breach - duties US had imposed on Canadain lumber unfair pricing practises.

Stake Holders are the Softwood Lumber Industry, Canadian Officials & the Trade Minister Stockwellday, US Government, Steve Swanson- chairman for the Coalition for Fair Lumber Imports, Canadian Industry, LCIA tribrunal

The message is canada needs to keep on top of the trade industry, the softwood lumber industy and the trade agreements that are in place .

This article is not great PR for Canada.

The audience could be the Canadain Taxpayers, Softwood lumber industry, First Nations resourse management.

Fighting in the House of Commons for On-Reserve Schools in the North

I found this article interesting from Thur Feb 26th Globe and Mail - Funding On-Reserve Schools political, note suggests'. The conservative government is trying to make a decision on what northern aboriginal community(s) will receive funding for a new school - that's the issue!

The PC government's General Director hired a Public Relations firm Hill and Knowlton to manage the bad press INAC was receiving regardin the state of on-reserve schools. This is all over a March 2008 memo, written by John-Paul Fournier - dept head of capital Planning that lists 5 communities with school problems.

NDP MP Charlie Angus defended the need for northern schools, INAC Strahl called Charlie Angus a "shaneless self-promoter spreading "a load of claptrap in the House of Commons, Mr. Agnus also said the the minister is failing in his duty to Aboriginals.

Stakeholders are Aboriginal Students who need schools in their Northern communities, INAC , MP's, Aboriginal Community Leaders and the PR firm.

Audience is the Canadian Public who watch for Aboriginal needs for the canadian dollars, political leaders.

This is jouralism not PR.

FN Housing Solution?

Housing , looking for solutions to First Nation Housing. Apparently this house is fully built, equipped and ready for occupancy, the cost of the 500-square-foot house is $55,000, just wondering if this even possible.

Pr - Research and Evaluation

Article from the Nation Talk site, regarding "survey" - Foundations of the Future Summary of Research Results.

Since Planning, Research, Communication and Evaluation is a big part of Public Relations, I may want to look into this example.

Project Discription: Simon Frazer University B.C. - Thinking of the World.

The BC communities want to understand what the impact is on their invest into broadband that was introduced to the school, library and health services, the study is focused on six areas: health, education, language, community (“social capital”), economics (business impact), and government services.

Taking the Hudson Jan15 USA

Last nights news on T.V, heard it on a american news channel.
Reading the article today in the National Post

I am so impressed by the pilot who landed that plane in the hudson river, I was impressed the day it happened. Last night I heard his recording with the air control tower, the conversation he carried on was so matter of factly, couldn't tell something was going so wrong, even the guys in the control tower didn't seem to realize what was just about to happen.
As for Pr, well I am sure convinced that pilots are a great job in those air planes. I do not like to air travel if I absolutely don't have to. This is great news for me!
